Nick Weig was born in Cedar Rapids but grew up in Strawberry Point. His connections to Broadcast Park started in 1987, when Meteorologist Dave Towne read a fan letter from then 6-year-old Nick on the 10:00pm News.
After Graduation from Starmont High School in 1999, Nick began working part-time at CBS2/FOX28 while attending Kirkwood Community College. He started as a morning editor, then evenings before becoming a weekend producing. Since then he has served in many capacities here at Broadcast Park, most recently as reporter.
After nearly 20 years in broadcasting, Nick has won a Regional Emmy Award, several Iowa Broadcast News Association awards and an Iowa Motion Picture Association award for producing newscasts and specials including CBS2’s 50th anniversary special.
In his spare time Nick is an experienced storm chaser who tracked numerous historic weather events including the Parkersburg tornado of 2008 and the devastating floods that same year.
Nick calls Marion home with his wife Jenny and their two daughters, Susie and Audrey.
