The Iowa Hawkeyes have chosen their starting quarterback to lead the team in their first game against Wyoming this Saturday.

Voice of the Hawkeyes Gary Dolphin tweeted Monday morning that sophomore Nathan Stanley won the starting job.

Stanley and junior Tyler Wiegers were in a quarterback competition during training camp and spring practice.

Stanley is Iowa's first true sophomore to open the season as the starter since Drew Tate did so in 2004.

Iowa kicks off their season at Kinnick Stadium on Saturday against Wyoming at 11 a.m.
