In the 2019 NFL Draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers used a 4th round pick to select former Hawkeye and Waukee grad Anthony Nelson. The next year, they used the 14th overall pick on Mount Vernon native and Nelson's former Iowa teammate Tristan Wirfs. It appears those picks worked out well, as Wirfs and Nelson hoisted the Lombardi Trophy Sunday night, after the Buccaneers won Super Bowl LV.
