Woman faces arson, animal abuse charges one year after Waukon, IA business fire
More than one year after a fire at the Tin, Rust & Harmony in Waukon, Iowa, a woman is now charged with 1st degree arson.
43-year-old Mindy Jo Jones was arrested on March 13, 2023.
She is also charged with animal abuse for the death of a dog that was killed in that fire.
The Decorah Fire Department, Lansing Fire Department, Waterville Fire Department, and Allamakee County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene on February 13, 2022.
On February 13, 2022, the Waukon Fire Department and Waukon Police Department responded to a report of a structure fire at Tin, Rust, & Harmony located at 9 Allamakee Street in Waukon. The Decorah Fire Department, Lansing Fire Department, Waterville Fire Department, and Allamakee County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
The criminal complaint states Jones had a financial motive to destroy the building and business.
The fire was found to be intentionally set in two locations.
The Iowa State Fire Marshall’s Office was assisted by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Iowa DCI Lab, the ATF, and the Allamakee County Attorney’s Office in investigating the fire.
