Williamsburg man charged with attempted murder, burglary

A Williamsburg man is facing multiple charges after a violent burglary early Saturday morning.

The Williamsburg Police Department was called to a residence on Country Club Road to a report of a stabbing at 2:16 a.m.

When they arrived, they found a 40-year-old man with multiple life-threatening stab wounds. The victim was able to identify his attacker as 41-year-old Bryan Grout, also of Williamsburg. He was taken into custody at his home.

The victim was flown to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Grout is in the Iowa County Jail charged with attempted murder and first-degree burglary.
