Woman swept away by Cedar River floodwater rescued

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KGAN) - Rescue crews in Cedar Rapids had to save a woman who had been swept away by floodwater.

Police received a report of a woman who had gone into floodwaters near Ellis and Edgewood roads NW shortly after 1:30 p.m. Monday.

The woman was found in a tree south of the Edgewood Road bridge and was out of the tree safely at 3:17 p.m.

She was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
