Viral campaign hopes to tell the world Downtown Cedar Rapids does not "suck"

Answering the statement, "Downtown Cedar Rapids Sucks," is the mission of a new viral marketing campaign by the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance. The ad, launched online last weekend, is designed to convince young professional to not only work in Cedar Rapids, but live downtown as well.

From Crunch berries to Cocktails, hair highlights to Harold's Chicken, there's a lot to soak up in a video which lasts just about a minute. "We needed it to be attention grabbing, we needed it to pique interest right out of the chute or it wouldn’t be effective." Says Jesse Thoeming, Downtown Executive Director.

We showed the video to several people who live and work in downtown Cedar Rapids and all thought it was a good idea. Planners say the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive as well and they plan to launch three more videos later this year highlighting attractions and other events, proving that Downtown Cedar Rapids does NOT suck.
