Victims involved in fatal I-80 crash identified
IOWA CITY, Iowa (CBS2/FOX28) —
State authorities have identified the people involved in a fatal crash involving two motorcycles and a semi truck on I-80 Wednesday night.
The Iowa State Patrol two motorcycles were traveling together on I-80 EB near the Herbert Hoover Highway exit when they started to slow down for stopped traffic ahead for a previous accident. The crash report says the semi was traveling behind the motorcycles and didn't stop in time, hitting both motorcycles.
One motorcyclist, 63-year-old John Harvey of Manor, Penn., died as a result of the crash. The other motorcyclist, 72-year-old Raymond Mitchell Jr. of Youngstown, Penn. was injured. The driver of the semi, Bobby Stephen of Janesville, Wisc. was also injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
