A Jeep SUV was pulled out of Ellis Harbor after it was accidentally driven into the water.

Cedar Rapids Public Safety Communications Coordinator Greg Buelow tells CBS2/FOX28 News the Jeep apparently went into the water. The owner of the Jeep was kayaking around it when it was called into police and fire around 2 p.m.

The owner told officers he pushed the accelerator instead of the brake.

A crane from a local Cedar Rapids company was brought in by the fire department to pull the Jeep out.

CRPD says the owner will likely be fined by the Iowa DNR because fluids leaked into the water and it wasn’t reported by the owner in a timely manner.
