IOWA CITY, Iowa -- A United States Postal Service vehicle burst into flames in Iowa City Monday afternoon, but quick thinking from an employee limited damage to just the vehicle.
The Iowa City Fire Department tells CBS2/FOX28 they don't know exactly what caused the fire to start, but do confirm it started in the engine compartment.
Post Office officials say the employee parked in a driveway, got out to deliver mail when she noticed smoke coming from the truck.
The unnamed employee quickly backed the truck out of driveway to prevent anything else from catching on fire. She also got all the mail out of the truck before it burst into the flames.
The worker, who was not hurt, got another vehicle and then finished her route for the day.
