IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa College of Education, held its second annual LatinX conference Saturday.
It's designed to educate the public about Latino issues, right here in the Midwest.
The conference spotlights the Latino experience in Iowa and other Midwest states.
The goal is to develop the next generation of LatinX leaders.
Saturdays keynote speaker, Dr. Nancy "Rusty" Barcelo, was the first Mexican American to earn a Doctorate from the University of Iowa.
The conference focused on helping educators understand how the current political climate affects Latino children in the classroom.
