HULL, Iowa (CBS2/FOX28) — Rep. Steve King will have a primary challenger for the Republican nomination in Iowa's 4th Congressional District in 2020.
State Senate Randy Feenstra announced his intention to run for Congress on Wednesday.
Feenstra is a state senator for Hull who is serving his third term in the state senate and is currently the chair of the senate ways and means committee. He is a staunch conservative who was an architect of last year's state lax laws, which the Reynolds administration has called the largest in Iowa's history.
“Today, Iowa’s 4th District doesn’t have a voice in Washington, because our current representative’s caustic nature has left us without a seat at the table,” Feenstra said in a release. “We don’t need any more sideshows or distractions, we need to start winning for Iowa’s families.”
King narrowly beat out his Democratic opponent J.D. Scholten in November's general election.
