A winter storm has its eye on eastern Iowa heading into the upcoming weekend. Once the system passes, temperatures will take a major plunge as a blast of Arctic air will bring in some big time cold.
The storm center will track through the lower Mississippi Valley with Iowa on the cold, snowy side of the system.
Moderate to heavy snow will be likely across eastern Iowa. There is still uncertainty on exactly where the heaviest snow sets up. Fluffy snow will be piling up quickly from Friday afternoon through Saturday morning.
Once it passes, temperatures will plummet! An Arctic airmass will plunge into the Midwest with temperatures falling below zero Sunday morning. Despite sunshine high's will only reach the single digits Sunday afternoon. Temperatures will fall back below zero with wind chills near -20 or colder Monday morning.
