Driver killed during Clayton County crash identified

UPDATE 3/19/20:

According to the Iowa State Patrol, Delancy Miell, 30, from Robins, was killed during a crash Thursday morning in Clayton County.

The other semi driver, Michael Trenkler, 59, of Woodstock, Illinois, was sent to the hospital.

PREVIOUS STORY: One person died Thursday when two semis collided in Clayton County, Iowa State Patrol confirmed to Iowa's News Now.

The Clayton County Sheriff's Office says the crash involves hazardous materials and the Linn County Hazmat team is enroute.

Iowa State Patrol Trooper Jon Stickney says the crash happened at the intersection of Highway 52 and Highway 13 just north of Elkader.

One semi was carrying batteries while the other was carrying milk.

Authorities says no evacuations are in place and now are expected.

The intersection is expected to be closed for several hours.

Traffic is being diverted onto Golden Avenue, 182nd Street, and then 190th Street.

No word yet on the condition of the other driver.
