CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — After enduring derecho damage in August of 2020, the Radiant Church in Cedar Rapids will be hosting a grand reopening on Saturday, June 3 from 9 a.m - 12 p.m.
The storm ripped off two-thirds of the roof and caused extensive water damage.
The congregation was forced to worship in a temporary space for more than two years.
The newly restored church required $10 million in restoration work, according to the church.
“We are so excited to reopen our doors and welcome our community in to see our focus on future generations,” Pastor Brian Pingel said. “This has been a long journey, but it has been worth it. We are grateful for the sacrificial support of our congregation, and we look forward to continuing to serve the people of Eastern Iowa.”
The public is invited by the church to attend the grand reopening and partake in the tours of the building, refreshments, and fellowship.
