CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (IOWA'S NEWS NOW) — What started as a prank between friends before the holiday in 2017 is now a Thanksgiving tradition returning once again in 2020.

The Iowa Giving Crew is now ready for families in need this holiday to register for the latest edition of "Operation Give Birds."

Meals must be picked up on Sunday, November 22 from the Van Meter locations in either Cedar Rapids or Iowa City. Donations can also be made through Venmo (@Iowa-GivingCrew) or PayPal (IowaGivingCrew@outlook.com).

The program has fed hundreds of Eastern Iowa families needing help getting a full Thanksgiving meal during the holidays - and has helped launched the Iowa Giving Crew as a year-round non-profit.
