Man killed after own vehicle rolls over him in Marion Dairy Queen drive-thru

UPDATE: The Marion Police Department says the man involved has died.

Marion PD says 74-year-old Curtis Schantz was in the Dairy Queen drive-thru when he car broke down. He then got out and opened the hood to try and fix it when the truck rolled forward into Schantz and drove over him. He was taken to a local hospital where he died.

The Alburnett Fire Department posted on Facebook that Schantz served on the fire department for 33 years.


ORIGINAL STORY: One person is in the hospital after a crash in Marion Monday morning.

The Marion Police Department says they were called to the crash at the Dairy Queen on Eagleview Drive around 11:50 a.m.

The person was taken to a local hospital and has not been identified.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
