On National Fruitcake Day, buy a fruitcake to support Camp Courageous

Camp Courageous of Iowa, a year-long recreational and respite care facility that serves people of all ages with disabilities, generates a large portion of their yearly budget from their annual fruitcake sale. For nearly 30 years, using a secret recipe passed down from a volunteer named Leigh Clark, they have been baking and selling thousands of fruitcakes in the winter season.

This year, volunteers made over 4,000 fruitcakes, which are being sold for $10 apiece at stores throughout Iowa.

December 27 is National Fruitcake Day, so there is perhaps no better time to buy one of these seasonal treats to support the non-profit.
