NWS: 11 tornadoes touched down in Iowa on Tuesday
DES MOINES, Iowa (CBS2/FOX28) —
The National Weather Service says 11 tornadoes touched down in the state of Iowa.
Four of those tornadoes were in the CBS2/FOX28 viewing area. An EF-0 3 miles east/southeast of Janesville struck a farmstead and several buildings, causing moderate damage. A trailer was flipped, and several livestock suffered minor injuries. Two other EF-0 tornadoes touched down in Tama County. A brief EF-0 tornado touched down in Blairstown, which was reported by Meteorologist Nick Stewart in the Road Warrior. These three tornadoes did not cause any damage.
The strongest tornado reported was an EF-2 tornado near Creston in Union County that damaged a garage, a mobile home and several trees. An EF-1 near Stuart in Adair County snapped trees and rolled over a hay wagon.
The remaining tornadoes were rated as EF-0 tornadoes and caused minor or no damage.
