CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa —
Just before 5 o'clock Saturday afternoon, Cedar Rapids fire crews were called to a bed on fire at 430 Jacolyn Dr. SW in Cedar Rapids.
The caller said the person living in the unit was out, however they did not know if other occupants were out of the apartment.
When crews arrived, thick black smoke was pouring out of the building.
Firefighters knocked down a fire in a bedroom coming from a mattress and all the contents in the room.
The only damage from the fire was where the flames originated, the rest of the building in still livable.
There were no injuries in this fire, the cause is still under investigation.
