CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - A Cedar Rapids woman, who had her wheelchair stolen earlier this week, was given a replacement wheelchair by a Iowa City man she didn't know until he stepped up to help.
Cynthia Helms says she never expected any help and wasn't sure if she should accept the donation from Nick Gerxhaliu.
But after two men were caught on a surveillance camera, stealing her wheelchair from inside her apartment building Wednesday evening, she's thankful for the new chair.
Helms is deaf and spoke with CBS2/FOX 28 through an interpreter on Friday.
"Thank you. He's the one that bought that wheelchair and I don't think he will ever understand how grateful I am for him and what he's done. He has a very big heart," Helms said.
Cedar Rapids police said there's an active investigation on this case and anyone with information should call (319) 286-5491.
