Names released in Cedar Rapids attempted murder-suicide
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (CBS2/FOX28) —
The Cedar Rapids Police Department has identified the people involved in an incident they are now labeling an attempted murder-suicide.
The shooting happened at a residence near Soutter Avenue and 40th Street SE at 4:40 a.m. on Monday.
CRPD says 35-year-old Brandon Toepfer of Margate, Fla. was shot multiple times inside the home by 30-year-old Kristopher Booker of Center Point. Toepfer was taken to University of Iowa Hospitals with what police believe to be non-life-threatening injuries. A woman and several children were also inside the home at the time of the shooting, but were not injured.
Booker was found dead outside of the residence.
Police say the shooting was a result of domestic situation and said Booker had a relationship with the woman inside the home.
