MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa — A massive fire destroyed a building in Marshalltown Friday afternoon.
Firefighters were called to 713 W Madison St. for the fire just before 3:30 p.m.
They arrived to find a 5000 square foot commercial Morton style building engulfed in flames.
A big portion of the fire was noted on the West side of the structure, and one of the two overhead doors had collapsed into the building. A 53 foot semi trailer was also burning on the West side of the building.
In total 15 firefighters responded to the blaze and were at the scene for three hours.
The Marshalltown Fire Department says the building is a total loss, and how the fire started is under investigation.
No one was inside the building during the time of the fire.
