Mini golf coming to Twin Pines Golf Course
With so many families home right now, because of the pandemic, finding ways to keep the kids busy can be challenging.
But by next spring, there will be a new way to pass the time. A mini golf course was approved by Cedar Rapids city council Tuesday evening. And a fun, outdoor summer activity is what most kids enjoy in Cedar Rapids.
“Mini golfing sometimes, and swimming, and going on splash pads,” said Charli Woods, a Cedar Rapids Resident.
The new mini golf experience will be located at Twin Pines Golf Course.

“some people from the family might wanna come mini golf, might wanna hit a buck or two of balls, some might even wanna golf. So, the energy of bringing it all into one location is a really nice addition,” said Director f Cedar Rapids Parks and Rec, Scott Hock.
The experience would include an 18 hole, landscape style course.
“It will have some amenities in it like a waterfall and natural landscaping and that sort of thing. It’s not a tourist sort of one, that's super big, but it will be a nice addition to the course,” said Hock.
The proposed course is expected to boost golf course systems in Cedar Rapids.
“We’re hoping to do about 125 rounds a day, which would be about $190,000 a year to make that happen,” said Hock.
Local kids are excited to have a new place to mini golf with their families.
“We go to airFX, they have a little goofy golf course, that we went to for fathers day because my dad really likes to golf,” said Woods.
Construction is estimated to begin this fall.
“Provided things move along, we would be to start construction this fall, and then have a spring opening. It might not be right away in the spring, but hopefully very soon in the spring we can get everything rolling,” says Hock.
The proposed plan is expected to cost the city around $560,000 and would be built near the current driving range.
