A fiber optic line that was accidentally cut is causing TV and internet outages for Mediacom customers.

A spokesperson for Mediacom told CBS2/FOX28 News that a construction vehicle knocked down fiber lines on a construction site, causing the outage. The outage is affecting between 1,100 and 1,500 TV, internet and phone service customers in Washington, Lone Tree, Kalona and Wellman. Some areas near Iowa City and Cedar Rapids may have outages as well, but customers in those areas should see minimal issues.

Work to repair the fiber lines is already underway, and should be fixed within a few hours.
