MASON CITY, Iowa — Just hours after Iowa's News Now reported on the permanent suspension handed down by Twitter to the Mason City Globe Gazette without explanation, the historic newspaper in northern Iowa is now back on the social media platform. The paper regained access around midday Friday but had lost all of their thousands of original followers.
Editor Lisa Grouette tells Iowa's News Now she was informed of the changed and that the suspension was done "by mistake." There was no explanation as to what mistake caused it to happen but says she is "just grateful we're back in business."
The paper was surprised by the suspension this week, which eliminated their posts or anyone's ability to see them. Anyone who tried to find them was informed the account had been suspended. Unfortunately, the return is not without challenges. The paper has lost all of its thousands of followers. Those who followed them and wish to do so again, will need to find them on Twitter by clicking here, and re-following them on the platform.
