CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — A group of 7th graders are taking the "mannequin challenge" to another level.
Students at Wilson Middle School filled the literacy fair with elaborate displays of books they read over the school year.
Student visitors submitted fake coins to activate student mannequin presentations.
The goal for the class was to thoroughly explain character development from novels they read earlier in the school year.
Students like 7th grader Joslyn Mejia who enjoyed the project. "It help us a lot. Like, trying to get to this point and read the books so we will know like what or how they changed and it just encouraged us to read more I guess," said Mejia.
Teacher Christine Clark hopes this project will build the students reading stamina.
