Linn County Sheriff's Office is searching for a man who robbed a gas station and shot a deputy Sunday night.

The Linn County Sheriff's Office is now releasing description of that suspect -- he is described as a black man in his mid 30s. The man is approximately 5'10 to 6'2, around 200 to 220 pounds. He was wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.

The search for this man in still ongoing and the Linn County Sheriff's Office is asking if anyone sees a suspicious person in the Coggon area to call law enforcement.

Linn County Sheriff's Office was called to Casey's General Store in Coggon late Sunday night due to the alarm going off.

A Deputy arrived and was met by an armed suspect. The suspect fired multiple times and the deputy was hit multiple times.

The suspect left in a van and went north out of Coggon, he was spotted by another deputy who then pursued the suspect's vehicle.

The suspect crashed on north 3rd Street in Coggon and fled on foot. Multiple agencies responded to the area to help in the search, but as of 6 am the suspect has not been found.
