CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Community leaders in Cedar Rapids met on Wednesday to discuss supportive housing those in need in the city.
Democratic State Senator Liz Mathis and City Manager Jeff Pomeranz along with others were all at the event.
"There are individuals within our community that are suffering that the most basic of housing needs. So to come together to talk about solutions I think is very important ," said Pomeranz.
According to a recent report by the National Alliance to End Homelessness, more than 500,000 people are experiencing homelessness.
Four Oaks hosted the event and they invited the CEO and President of Corporation for Supportive Housing Deb De Santis to be the keynote speaker.
