Johnson County Sheriff's Deputy saves newborn
JOHNSON COUNTY, Iowa (CBS2/FOX28) —
A newborn baby in Johnson County is alive and breathing well after a fast-acting sheriff's deputy helped save it.
Deputies were sent to a home in rural Johnson County for a report of a woman in labor. Right before the first deputy arrived, the mother delivered the baby in her vehicle.
Deputy Doran Williams noticed that the newborn was not breathing properly, and moved the umbilical cord and was able to help the child start breathing.
Mom and baby were taken to the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, where they are both doing well.
