Iowa wrestler injured after accidental shooting in Iowa City
IOWA CITY, Iowa (CBS2/FOX28) —
A wrestler at the University of Iowa is recovering after accidentally being shot early Tuesday morning.
The Iowa City Police Department says they were called to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics on a report of a gunshot victim who appeared at UIHC for treatment at 4:37 a.m.
Police say their preliminary investigation reveals that several people were in a residence on Valley Ave. when someone discharged a firearm, hitting 22-year-old Sam Stoll. The injuries are non-life-threatening.
Stoll is a wrestler for the University of Iowa who earned All-American status after placing fifth at the past season's NCAA Championships.
A spokesperson for Iowa Wrestling said they are looking into the matter and will release a statement.
