The Iowa Raptors FC is now the second United Soccer League (USL) Two team in Iowa. The first is the Des Moines Menace.

The Raptors will continue their inaugural season through the month of July with no fans in the stands due to COVID-19. The games will be streamed on their Facebook live as well as on various local television stations for fans to watch.

Their official season will begin in May 2021 and carry through playoffs in August. After a break in the season, the team will pick up in December for their indoor winter league.

Chris Economides, the general manager of the Iowa Raptors FC, explained that the goal of the organization is to allow players to be seen and pursue a professional career. They also are striving to create a culture around soccer in eastern Iowa.

We feel that the Cedar Rapids market is a very fertile market in terms of players and capabilities to reach the next levels and we want to the local youth here to aspire to someday play for the Raptors and can lead them to bigger and greater things
