IOWA CITY, Iowa — A new statewide nonprofit association celebrated its official launch on Wednesday evening.
People gathered at the University of Iowa Stanley Museum of Art in Iowa City to celebrate the organization's launch.
The Iowa Nonprofit Alliance (INA) has been in the works for decades, but the organization became official in December 2022.
A major goal of the group is to bring state-level support to the 23,000 nonprofit organizations in Iowa.
What our purpose is, what we hope that people are excited about, is the fact that this is one more way to amplify that great work that they're already doing," Iowa Nonprofit Alliance Vice President Paul Thelen said. "And so, to be a strong membership organization, you have to have great members. And so, that's what we hope to attract and help create through this organization.
The INA was made possible by seed money from Alliant Energy, Delta Dental of Iowa, and an anonymous donor.
INA is planning to help with education, advocacy and networking, as well as providing other benefits for Iowa's nonprofits.
The organization has several events planned throughout this summer. You can keep up with their events with their online calendar found here.
