Iowa Derecho Storm Resource Page raises over $100K, still in need of volunteers, donations
The Iowa Derecho Storm Resource Page has been collecting donations and volunteering for six straight days.
Organizers say they have now raised over $100,000 and have partnered with Iowa Giving Crew.
They still have urgent needs where they need volunteers and donations at 5001 1st Avenue SE #106A in northeast Cedar Rapids.
Volunteers can arrive at 7am, donations are accepted from 8 am to 7 pm.
- Volunteers (All day, especially Late afternoon/evening)
- Charcoal/Lighter Fluid
- Coolers
- Flashlights/Solar Powered Lights
- Battery Operated Lanterns
- Non-perishable Food Items (soups, jelly, pasta, pasta sauce, canned fruit, canned meat)
- Laundry/Dish Soap, Cleaning Supplies
- Toiletries (body wash, hand soap, shampoo/conditioner, hand sanitizer, deodorant)
- Pre-made Meals/Sandwiches
- Large Trash Bags
- Paper Towels
- Batteries
- Gas Cans
- Tarps
- Newborn, 5/6 Diapers - HUGE need!
- Sports Drinks
- Tents/Sleeping Bags
Thing they do not need/can't accept:
- Clothes/Shoes
- Prescriptions
- Bedding/Blankets
- Toys/Stuffed Animals
Volunteers are needed to help with debris clean up and helping people putting tarps on homes. Anyone in need of help at their home or business can text name, address, and type of work needed to 319.432.9754
Monetary dations may be made through Venmo (@iowaderecho) and PayPal (info@derecho2020.com). Those donations are going toward purchasing additional supplies.
