Iowa City Parks and Rec kicks off the first Party in the Park next week
IOWA CITY, Iowa — The Iowa City Parks and Recreation Department is starting the annual Party in the Park series on Thursday, June 1.
The event will take place 6:30 - 8 p.m. every Thursday from June 1 through August 17.
Events are held at a different Iowa City park each week along with a rotating musical act.
The first event on June 1 takes place at Willow Creek Park, 1117 Teg Drive. The event will feature live music from Kalimbaman & the Fabulous Yahoo Drummers, live bird ambassadors from The RARE Group, STEAM and craft activities, and lawn games. Visitors will also be able to visit the Iowa City Public Library Bookmobile and a fire truck from the Iowa City Fire Department.
Various community partners will promote learning activities throughout the season such as The RARE Group, Backyard Abundance, the Iowa Youth Writing Project, and Green Iowa AmeriCorps.
