Hiawatha Public Library awarded $468k in grants for renovations
HIAWATHA, Iowa (CBS2/FOX28) —
The Hiawatha Public Library has been awarded nearly half of a million dollars in grant money for their renovations and expansion.
The $468,887 award in Community Attraction and Tourism grants was awarded by the Enhance Iowa Board.
The library is renovating the existing 8,543-square-foot space and adding another 13,457 square feet to the facility. The construction will allow for dedicated youth and young adult areas, additional computer workstations for patrons, study room and a conference room. A new basement will create storage and house the HVAC system.
Ground could be broken this year with expected completion of the addition in 2019.
