HEDRICK, Iowa — A southeast Iowa man convicted in a 2018 attempted kidnapping was arrested again Friday after investigators say he raped two children and multiple adult women over the course of eight years.
Criminal complaints filed against 30-year-old Matthew Reynolds, of Hedrick, list six adult women and two minor victims. Their ages range from 4 to 32.
Sometime between 2018 and 2019, a 16-year-old girl reported being sexually abused by Reynolds while she babysat his children.
Agents with the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation also spoke with acquaintances, ex-girlfriends and a former spouse, who all claimed Reynolds had sex with them against their will.
Investigators also allege Reynolds used a set of deer antlers to sodomize at least three of the victims, including a 4-year-old child.
Reynolds now faces 14 counts of third-degree sexual abuse and one count of second-degree sexual abuse in Keokuk County. The investigation also led to five additional sexual abuse charges filed in Jefferson County.
The new string of charges comes after a separate investigation in Wapello County revealed Reynolds had approached a young girl in downtown Eldon in fall 2018 and told her to get in his car. He was found guilty of child enticement in spring 2021.
And in May 2022, Reynolds pleaded guilty to a separate harassment charge in Mahaska County. He was arrested in April 2021 after a 15-year-old girl accused him of following her and masturbating in front of her in his truck.
Reynolds remains in custody at the Keokuk County jail on a $330,000 bond.
