20 more people have died because of the flu in Iowa this week.

The new data released by the Iowa Department of Public Health says 97 people have died since Oct. 1.

The rate of flu deaths decreased this week, after 34 flu-related deaths were reported last week.

The CDC says 1 in 13 doctor visits across the country were for flu-related systems.

The predominant flu strain this season is AH3N2, which typically causes serious illnesses, hospitalizations and even death, particularly for those who are very young or old and those with weakened immune systems. Health officials say it is not too late to get a flu shot, as the flu season will continue.
