Possible explosion, fire destroys garage in SE Cedar Rapids

A garage on the southeast side of Cedar Rapids is a total loss after a fire Friday morning.

It happened at a home on the 1000-block of 38th St SE. Viewers told CBS2/FOX28 about the fire just before noon. Neighbors say they heard an explosion and told the home owners that their garage was on fire.

No one was hurt. There wasn't a car inside the detached garage, but a neighbor was able to move a car parked in front of the garage before it sustained significant fire damage. The only thing left of the garage was a few wall studs.
