HIAWATHA, Iowa (CBS2/FOX28) — Ron Corbett is challenging a decision to remove him from the Republican gubernatorial primary ballot.
Corbett announced his plans to in a news conference in Hiawatha, saying the "establishment" has been "out to get him."
On Tuesday, a state review board found that Corbett fell 8 signatures short of the requirement needed to be on the ballot on June 5 after a challenge to his candidacy was filed by a conservative blogger.
The panel said duplicate signatures, along with signatures crossed out by the campaign would not be counted towards to 4,005 signature requirement. Corbett and his campaign contended that the names that were crossed out were valid, and were crossed out by mistake.
Corbett said the challenge has already been filed in district court, and that he will accept whatever decision a judge makes.
