Iowa nice was on display Friday afternoon in Fairfax for a man who lost his wife to COVID-19.

Nearly 150 vehicles, led by the Fairfax Fire Department, paraded around the home of Kevin Everett. His wife Kathy passed away last Friday.

Everett's colleagues and co-workers came to show their solidarity while practicing social distancing.

"Having leaders like Kevin, and his whole family that we've been lucky to work around and be with, it's something you can't be thankful enough for, a good-hearted person, I wish we could do more," said friend Josh Lawlar.

Cars that lined up this afternoon at the Fairfax Fire Station reached all the way down Linn Street to Fairfax Road.

Kevin's friends who all work in the construction trades took their turns individually to wave, to offer their support.

"You could just see the expression. Kevin is not one to be in the spotlight and this is very touching for him. Very humbling, and yeah, made a huge impact with him," said friend Don Irons.
