AMANA, Iowa (Iowa's News Now) — The Clear Creek Amana Community School District is asking voters to consider a $65-million bond referendum to help expand its facilities.
The town of Tiffin and the surrounding areas are growing so quickly they're starting to run out of space for their students.
District officials say that boom is pushing property assessments up, so the referendum shouldn't mean higher taxes.
Right now were serving about 2800 students and by 2032 it's expected we're going to be serving over 4600," Interim Superintendent Joseph Brown Sr. said. "And the three fastest growing areas across the state of Iowa are in our district.
A special election for the bond is set for March 1st.
Tuesday was the first of four meetings scheduled over the next week.
