Cedar Rapids Downtown Farmers' Market kicks off Saturday
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (CBS2/FOX28) —
The Cedar Rapids Downtown Farmers' Market, produced by the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance, begins this Saturday, May 26. It features over 200 vendors, from fresh produce, to freshly baked goods and artisanal gifts.
A few tips:
-This weekend (May 26) the 4th Ave. Parking Ramp will be closed
-There will be a bike corral with Market security, if you'd like to bike there
-Be sure to bring reusable bags to carry your goods; also, shopping carts will be available to borrow
-Pets are allowed, but due to heat and crowds, are discouraged by Market organizers
The dates/times for the Downtown Farmers' Market are the following:
- Saturday, May 26, 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
- Saturday, June 2, 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
- Saturday, June 16, 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
- Saturday, July 7, 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
- Saturday, July 21, 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
- Saturday, August 4, 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
- Saturday, August 18, 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
- Saturday, September 1, 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
On Saturday, August 25, there will be an extra special Market After Dark that takes place in the evening. Iowan American Idol winner Maddie Poppe will be performing.
The Market After Dark offers a variety of vendors mixed with lively stage and street entertainment, creating a unique nightlife opportunity for downtown Cedar Rapids. On average, this event brings more than 30,000 people downtown for food, beer, wine, art, entertainment and more!
