An Iowa farmer spotted a black bear while working in his field Tuesday.

The bear was found in Howard County about four miles northwest of Schley.

According to the Iowa DNR, there's no breeding population of black bears in the state, but there are natural populations in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Missouri.

That makes occasional bear sightings possible in Iowa if the bear wanders across state lines.
