CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (CBS2/FOX28) -- Orchestra students learn the works of classical composers like Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart, but not all of them love the music.
Harding Middle School's orchestra director noticed her students growing bored of the same old material.
In fact, one student spoke up.
"[The student] suggested we play different music," said Hannah Van Deusen, Harding's orchestra director. "She wanted to play hip-hop."
Van Deusen immediately ran with the idea, formulating a plan to implement newer hip-hop hits and old school rap classics.
The final product -- Dr. Dre, Tupac, and a total of five pieces to complete a performance.
