Bandits caught on camera stealing from Cedar Rapids car wash
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — A Cedar Rapids business co-owner is sharing surveillance video showing two bandits breaking into his car wash early Christmas Day.
Most notably, one suspect is seen, barely holding on to his pants and exposing his butt crack at Westdale Car Wash on Wilson Avenue Southwest.
Jason Mettler tells CBS2/FOX 28 he's upset and disturbed after the incident set him back about $500 in cash and nearly $20,000 in equipment damage.
"I'm not a person that lets things get me down. Yeah, the whole time watching the video I was just like man, I'd just like to find him and buy him a pair of suspenders," Mettler said.
Mettler also said he missed out on some family time with his son who is home on his first leave from the Navy.
"Me and my wife stayed at the wash and kind of waited until the locks got fixed and you know boarded up the doors as best we could, so that we could go on and continue on without Christmas," Mettler said.
The Cedar Rapids Police Department is investigating the case and is still searching for the suspects.
