All Saints installing solar panels for environment, education
More than 500 panels are being installed at All Saints in Cedar Rapids - making it the first facility in the Archdiocese of Dubuque to utilize solar energy.<br>
All Saints Catholic Church and All Saints Elementary School are becoming the first facilities in the Archdiocese of Dubuque to utilize solar power in their buildings.More than 500 panels are being installed on the roofs of the buildings in northwest Cedar Rapids. The plan is to begin using the panels for power sometime in June.Not only will the solar energy be more environmentally-friendly, but will also give students a new educational tool."We also want to make this very teachable. We practice what we preach," All Saints business manager Tracy Huk said on Monday. "We preach being good stewards. We preach being good financial stewards. So there's all sorts of math, science. There's all sorts of things that the kids can learn from this."The church and school will start using the panels for their energy purposes in June.
