Inside the Storm: Circulation, No Tornado
ABILENE, TX (CBS2/FOX28) - Our day began early in Liberal, Kansas. We got up to look at the charts to try and decide what our target destination is going to be and headed out the door. By the time we got into the panhandle of Texas, thunderstorms were already beginning to develop, and by four o'clock we were looking at one that was already a tornado warning.
As we approached we saw some pretty good circulation, very impressive for a while, but it did not produce a tornado.
Once that diminished we got back in the car and headed north once again, and within a half an hour, another big thunderstorm developed right in front of our eyes and grew to at least forty thousand feet into the air.
The atmosphere was very spectacularly structured. Once again, no tornado.
