CFB: Strong Individual Performances Highlight Cyclone Spring Game
AMES, Iowa -- The Cyclone Gridiron Club spring football game showcased a balanced offensive and defensive effort on Saturday in Jack Trice Stadium, as the game featured 538 yards of offense and 33 points scored in the spring debut.
As in years past this contest was not short on offensive power as both teams combined for four touchdowns, two field goals and 538 yards of total offense. On the defensive side, 21 different Cyclones combined for 12 sacks, seven pass breakups, three quarterback hurries and two interceptions.
Quarterback Grant Rohach led three of the six scoring drives, compiling 171 yards through the air. Quarterback Sam Richardson led the Cyclones on the additional scoring drives, going 8-of-13 for 55 yards and one touchdown. Senior wide receiver Jarvis West finished with eight catches for 68 yards to lead the Cyclone receivers.
On the ground, sophomore running back Mitchell Harger led the Cyclones with 55 yards rushing off 15 carries with a long of eight. Senior Aaron Wimberly also had a great outing with seven rushes for 43 yards. Iowa State tallied 223 rushing yards between all rushers.
Offensive Game Ball Goes To...
Grant Rohach. The sophomore quarterback finished the afternoon 22-of-38 for 171 yards. Rohach took the most reps at the quarterback position and led three scoring drives. The Moorpark, Calif. native also showcased his ability to make plays with his legs after totaling 20 rushing yards, with his signature moment coming as he ran in an 8-yard touchdown on first-and-goal.
Defensive Game Ball Goes To...
Cory Morrissey and Mitchell Meyers. Morrissey and Meyers each totaled four sacks on the afternoon to lead all defenders in a strong defensive effort. Meyers also recorded a quarterback hurry.

*DeVondrick Nealy finished the day with five rushes for 28 yards and one touchdown.
*QB Trevor Hodge went 2-of-4 for 25 yards with one touchdown.
*ISU totaled 35 total first downs.
