CR Workers Work Through Heat

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- We almost made it an entire summer without even hitting 90 degrees, now it comes just at the height of football practice, and coaches here at Washington are keeping a close eye on the players.
The Warriors are getting ready for a big game with Jefferson.
Coaches tell us they start preparing for the heat, as soon as they wake up, drinking maybe a half-gallon of water or more by practice time.
One other interesting note, Cedar Rapids schools never let out early for heat anywhere because all the schools have air conditioning.
Also the height of construction season, the sun beating down on crews pouring concrete along A Avenue NE.
They're taking breaks where they can, but anybody who's ever done this knows, once you start with concrete you have to finish.
And imagine being a firefighter today, fifty pounds of full gear and those coats do not breathe at all.
